ELK GROVE - Caltrans roadwork on Interstate 5 will begin in Elk Grove and South Sacramento beginning Sunday, June 12. A $58.6 million project will repave, resurface and restripe I-5 from the San Joaquin County line to the Florin Road overcrossing.
Drivers can expect north and southbound traffic delays of up to 15 minutes due to lane restrictions and traffic control between 9 p.m. - 6 a.m. Sunday through Saturday. The entire project is scheduled to be complete by Fall 2012.
Roadside message boards will be used to post the latest information. Unexpected weather may prolong or cause the construction to be rescheduled. Caltrans officials urge drivers to use caution in these areas and to "Slow for the Cone Zone."
