Sacramento Transit Authority to Spend $600k For Study on Possible Ballot Measure

At their regular meeting, the Sacramento Transit Authority board of directors approved a $600,000 expenditure to study the feasibility of asking Sacramento County voters to increase sales taxes to fund various transportation and infrastructure needs. 

The expenditure will be used to conduct surveys and constituent outreach by the Sacramento-based political and campaign consulting firm of  Duffy and Capitolo. Those findings will help STA directors by July 2016 whether or not to place a county-wide sales tax increase proposal on the November 2016 general election ballot. ... Read More

Elk Grove-Florin Road Traffic Advisory - Tree Removal Scheduled for Next Week

Elk Grove motorist are being advised to expect traffic delays starting next Tuesday, August 25 on Elk Grove-Florin Road between Valley Oak Land and East Stockton Boulevard. The delays will be caused by the planned removal of several trees. 

According the to City of Elk Grove, up to 14 trees will be removed after two independent arborist determined they pose a public safety hazard due to disease. Earlier this month five trees were removed after they were determined to be an imminent safety hazard.

Regional Transit Rolling Out 'Blue Carpet' For Grand Opening of CRC Blue Line Station

Sacramento Regional Transit will be rolling out the Blue Carpet this Sunday and Monday to mark the grand opening of the long awaited Blue Line extension to Cosumnes River College (CRC). 

On Sunday festivities will be held at CRC from noon to 5 p.m. and will feature preview rides between the new station and the Meadowview Station, food trucks, live entertainment and kids activities. Calvine Road to Be Closed For Track Repairs; Two e-Tran Routes Affected

Starting Monday, May 18 at 7 a.m., until 5p.m. on Wednesday, May 20, Calvine Road from Power Inn Road to Elk Grove Florin Road will be closed to through traffic. This closure has been requested by Union Pacific Railroad for urgent repairs needed for sections of railroad tracks. 
Information about the closure and detours is as follows:

  • The closure will affect all westbound and eastbound through traffic on Calvine Road -- between Power Inn Road & Elk Grove Florin Road -- including vehicles, pedestrians and bicycles. 
  • The full closure of Calvine Road will only occur at the Union Pacific Railroad crossing between Barrymore Drive/Sheldon North Drive to Vintage Park Drive. Access for all property owners and residents will be maintained at all times.

Two More Highway Billboards to Grace Elk Grove's Highway 99 Scenery

Soon, Elk Grove will have two more tall monument billboards greeting visitors travelling through the city along Highway 99. The billboards, which will be 75 and 80-feet tall, will be installed near Elk Grove Boulevard and Grant Line Road respectively. The first step in the predetermined approval of the massive structures comes this Thursday night when the Elk Grove Planning Commission will hear from the applicant that will develop them.  
The applicant, Concord, Calif. based-Reynolds and Brown, will erect the structures on parcels located at 9960 and 10465 East Stockton Boulevard. Both signs will be on the east side of Highway 99. ... Read More

Interstate 5 in South Sacramento Scheduled for Nighttime Demolition Work

SACRAMENTO - The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) is alerting motorists  that nighttime demolition work has been scheduled for Interstate 5 just south of Pocket Road in Sacramento begining September 12. Traffic restrictions and lane closures will begin just south of Florin Road in Sacramento for southbound traffic and south of Laguna Boulevard near the city of Elk Grove for northbound traffic. The California Highway Patrol (CHP) will have units posted for enforcement and traffic control.

Motorists can expect traffic delays because the speed limit will be temporarily limited to 50 miles per hour in the work zone with north- and southbound traffic reduced to one lane in each direction.  A contractor is scheduled for demolition work on the Stonecrest Avenue / Beach Lake Road Overcrossing. Heavy construction equipment and machinery will be operating in and out of this area.
