Two arrested following threat against Elk Grove school
News

Two people have been arrested following a threat made to an Elk Grove high school.

Sacramento County sheriff's deputies arrested Jonathan Huynh, 19, of Elk Grove for possession of an illegal assault rifle, as well as a 16-year-old student. The student was arrested on suspicion of making criminal threats by means of an electronic communication device.

Thursday night, parents of Elk Grove students called authorities, warning them of a social media post with a student pictured wearing a ski mask and holding what appears to be an assault rifle. The post warned students not to come to school Friday, but no violent incidents were reported.

Huynh is in jail on $60,000 bail. He's scheduled to be arraigned in Sacramento Superior Court on February 8. The name of the 16-year-old student has not been released, which is typical in juvenile cases.
