No Shame For Elk Grove Football

It wasn’t the way Coach Chris Nixon or his players wanted the season to end for the Elk Grove High School football team but even with a 44-18 loss to Folsom in the Sac-Joaquin Section Division II title game it was a another successful year for the Thundering Herd……….They finish the season with a 12-2 record with their only  two losses at courtesy of two very good teams----- 12-1 Franklin and 14-0 Folsom…….It’s the second year in a row Elk Grove ran into Folsom in the Division II playoffs and both times the Bulldogs spanked the Herd but there’s no shame in that-----Folsom is very good and will play perennial powerhouse De La Salle Saturday night at Sacramento State for a berth in the Open Division State Championship……..For the Herd the future looks bright----while they will lose 17 seniors from this years’ team 29 players from the post season squad are underclassmen and should  return next year….So let the off season began and for now it’s back to the weight room and preparing for next year.
