City of Elk Grove Big Truck Day

Celebrate National Public Works Week with the City of Elk Grove at Big Truck Day.  Honk the horn on the bus, get behind the wheel of a semi-truck, build a castle in the sand, play with GIANT bubbles, enjoy storytime, and learn about all of the vehicles involved in maintaining a City at this FREE event geared towards kids 2-6.  Food trucks and fun included!

Set down your keys and dust off those handlebars for Bike & Bite, the City of Elk Grove's newes event.   We've partnered with Sacto MoFo's Food Truck Mania event to celebrate May is Bike Month with food truck coupons for those that arrive on 2 wheels.  Enjoy FREE bike valet service, a BMX bike stunt show, the May is Bike Month Energizer Station, complimentary bike check-ups courtesy of Elk Grove Bike Shop, vendors and more!   Admission is absolutely free and open to all ages!

RECIPE OF THE WEEK: ROASTED CAULIFLOWER STEAKS

RECIPE OF THE WEEK: ROASTED CAULIFLOWER STEAKS
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 2 cloves garlic, crushed with a press
  • 1 head cauliflower
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, finely chopped, for serving

Preheat the oven to 375°F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. 

Combine lemon juice and garlic in a small bowl. Cut center of head of cauliflower lengthwise into 3/4-inch-thick slices. Arrange on the prepared baking sheet in a single layer. Cut remaining cauliflower into 1-inch-thick pieces and scatter around cauliflower steaks. Brush cauliflower with lemon juice mixture. Roast 40 minutes or until golden and tender.   Sprinkle with parsley and serve.

The Cosumnes Community Services District is inviting residents to celebrate spring with your friends and family at the annual Spring 'EGG' stravaganza on Saturday, March 26 in Elk Grove Regional Park.

The free activities include appearances from the Easter Bunny and lots of springtime interactive FUN! Activities with a fee include face painting, pony rides, petting zoo, inflatable attractions, carnival games and the “egg scramble.” Tickets will be sold at the event for $.50 each. What great fun we had at our 2016 Celebration Fun Run!  For some participants, this was their first 5K Fun Run.  For others, a training run for a half marathon that was one week away.  All ages, sizes, fitness levels are welcome in the Land of Mojo.  But, did you know, your unlimited membership includes all of these things:

The New Year is almost here!  Tonight we will be ringing in 2016, and begin to start thinking about packing away our holiday decorations (if you have not done so already).  

Now is a great time to really look at all the decorations that you have, from tree ornaments to center pieces, and decide if you really really love it and want to continue to live with it.  We all tend to accumulate more than what we truly need, so take a close look.  Make room for sentimental items that invoke wonderful memories.  Every year, we hang my husband's grandmother's hand painted ornaments on our tree.  They don't match, are pink and blue, don't sparkle anymore, but our tree would not be complete without a few of these precious ornaments that are well over 100 years old.
