Man shot, killed outside his nephew's home | Crime
HERALD, CA - A family is grieving the loss of an uncle and the Sacramento Sheriff's Department is looking for those responsible for his shooting death.
A shooting happened around 4:30 p.m. in the 13000 block of Purvis Rd. The caller told the Sheriff's Department that he heard a gunshot outside his home and when he went to investigate he saw that his uncle was lying unresponsive on the driveway.
Sgt. Jason Ramos explained that the uncle was riding a dirt bike at the time. It is not known if he was leaving or returning to the property at the time of the shooting.
Ramos said nothing is being ruled out, including the possibility of a road rage incident, but that investigators believe the shooting may have been very deliberate.
"It looks like he was targeted for some reason and that someone would have had a reason to be here specifically for him or that some encounter with someone else quickly escalated into a situation involving deadly force," Ramos said.
The victim received a single gunshot wound to the upper body and was pronounced dead at the scene.
There is no suspect information available at this time, says Ramos.
Neighbors are being encouraged to call investigators with the department if they noticed any vehicle or person in the area that they did not recognize or that may have been suspicious.
